About Me....

So, here’s the long story... I did not attend culinary school and I am not a professionally trained chef. I think my training was better than what I could have learned in school. My passion for the kitchen and good food comes from spending over 30 years in the kitchen with my mom, grandmother and family. I’ve learned that good food begins with a good recipe, the freshest ingredients, the right tools (very important) and an organized kitchen (I had to throw that in there…..my OCD tendencies are the cause for much humor in my house). There’s a lot that can be said about learning at home. I think you hone your skills more slowly over time and much is gained from trial and error. I have spent countless hours in the kitchen learning from the best, and you can’t put a price on that education.

So, a little about me…. Life is great and hectic! I am mom to four great kids and I have been married to the same fantastic guy, otherwise known as DH, for 20 years. He shares my love of good food and travel and for that I am truly grateful! I am a very active person. I love to run (outside), bicycle, dance and garden …..good thing, huh, since I also love to eat. I just completed my second half marathon in November with my sister/best friend (go Jen) and plan on completing my first marathon in 2009.

My idea of a perfect day? Second only to a day at the spa after a long race…. You would find me wandering aimlessly up and down the aisles of ‘elite’ grocery stores (hours from home) reading labels and tasting samples. I would rather shop for mushrooms, cheese, wine, bread, etc. than to shop for shoes. And the only thing that might top a day at the grocery store, would be a day spent in the bookstore, hot chocolate in hand, perusing the cookbook aisle or magazine rack looking for the newest additions.

I have been known to do both in the same day!
